Over the years, people have come to TRACE in different ways.
Some have spent time here as residents. Some have joined a workshop. Some have come to see an exhibition, meet an artist or simply spend an afternoon making something.
And we've heard a version of the same thing from many of them:
'I wish I could do this more often.'
We understand. A residency gives you the time to really immerse yourself in your practice. But most of us can't step away from work, family and everyday life for a month. So we've created something in between.
Trace Art Club is that space.
It is like our residency - just woven into your everyday life.
What is it?
A small, curated group of eight people from different creative worlds, meeting every Wednesday for ten weeks.
Everyone brings something to the table.
Everyone gets a chance to learn from everyone else.
You might teach poetry or music. Someone else might teach you textile techniques or how to make pickles or jams. You might learn about colour from a painter. Try working with textures with a textile designer. Think differently about space with an architect. Or discover something completely unexpected from someone whose practice is nothing like yours.
That's the point.
We don't want eight people doing the same thing. We want to see what happens when different ways of thinking meet.

The group will be carefully curated so that everyone brings something different to the room.
We are looking for people who are curious, generous and excited to share what they know.

Who should join?
Someone who has something they're excited to share. Someone who wants to learn something completely outside their usual practice. Someone who's been missing making things. Someone who likes being around other curious people.
You might be an artist, designer, architect, curator, photographer, writer, textile practitioner, or none of these.
You just need to be interested in making and learning.
How it works
Every session has a creative lesson - something you make, try, explore or take home.
- Week 1Meet your creative crew! The first session is guided by TRACE and is all about getting to know each other a bit better.
- Weeks 2–10Each member takes a turn sharing something they know. Everyone learns by trying it out themselves in the studio.
